The project I’ve been closing up this week has kept me from fully processing the Snap photos from last week, but I wanted to post a preview before I head off for a week.
I was working on a station with a white background, so most of my photos are high key, clean portraits. I did a little outside but the rain moved in a nixed the shoots I had a planned later in the day.
Only a few photos up at the moment, but you can check my Flickr page over the next 24 hours to hopefully see a few more. Otherwise they go up after next week.

One outing I did manage to make during my hiatus was a picnic held in Central Park in May. It ended up being more of a challenge then expected, as I chose to drive in to NYC and that was the day there was a car fire in the Lincoln tunnel. Some some 2+ hours later I finally emerged on the green about an hour into the meetup.

After settling in and catching up with everyone it was time to get down to business and many photos were taken. Mr Falsken and Ayleen moved over to some rocks for a few shots, where they immediately took the high ground for shots that came out unintentionally looking a bit Firefly
Then on to some group shots:
Mr Wahnsinger
Amy and Ali each posed on the bridge

I had a great time yesterday attending the SNAP Alt Couture photo session in Bayonne, NJ. Britney of Berit New York, who I worked with at Wicked Faire, and Emilie Jerard brought some amazing stuff, and all of the model were great to work with. Pictures, of course, will be forthcoming.
If you’re coming here because we met at the shoot, welcome!

Ok, so I’ve had one quick post in the last 3 months.
I recently started a new project that has kept me very busy, and I have been away from many things including much of my online life. What could be so time consuming ? Fatherhood
Yes, In March we added a new addition to our household, and while he hasn’t completely monopolized my time, a combination of things have. But this project wil last for a very long time, so I am slowly returning to the digital world and learning to adjust.
I expect to start posting back here again. As far as new material goes, I attended an event a few weeks ago which is currently moving up to flickr. I also have a few thing coming up over the next few weeks that I am looking forward to.
Finally, I hope to expand things a bit here. I’ve been focused on the steampunk and cosplay stuff, but I started this blog figuring I could cover many more aspects of my photography, so that should start working its way in soon too,

The photo below was published in the current issue of The Gatehouse Gazette. It is an online magazine focusing on the genres of Steampunk and Dieselpunk out of the UK. Issue six was just released with an article on Mad Scientists by Hilde Heyvaerton on page 11. Accompanying the article is one of my photos, taken of Doktor Von Crankenshaft and GD Falksen. Fine examples if I do say so myself.
I haven’t had a chance to read the issue yet, but I plan to this week. But what I’ve seen so far looks good, so take a look.

Things have been a little slow here over the last week. There are some really big things going on at home right now over in the real world, so I expect that I will be updating very sporadically, if at all, for the next week or two still. But I am still here.

Once again at Wicked Faire G.D. Falksen and Evelyn Kriete hosted the Chrononauts parade. Unlike the fashion show, this is a chance for anyone at the event to walk in front of the assembled crowd and show off their outfits and hard work. Generally, anything steampunk or victorian inspired is allowed.
I think about 35 people walked this year. Everyone is divided into 3 groups: individual men, individual woman, and groups. Then there are prizes for the best in each category, so its still encouraged to show up in the best you have.
This year had a few problems. There was some mix up in the scheduling, resulting in not having the setup that we were expecting. For me, this meant that lighting was not up to what I expected, but I made do regardless. Once that was straightened out, things got under way.
It was a good time. Part of the fun of putting together a great costume or outfit is the chance to show it off. This gives any the chance to have a few moments in front of the crowd, and to show off their creativity. We even had a girl on roller skates this year.
